Homicide Detectives Investigating Fatal Stabbing of Man on Cherokee Avenue

Update: The victim is identified as Jamal D. Moore, 30, who owned short-term rentals in Nashville and North Carolina. The investigation into his murder remains active.
Homicide Unit detectives are pursuing leads in the stabbing death of a 30-year-old man whose body was found by a passerby just before noon Saturday afternoon in the grass near a parking lot at 810 Cherokee Avenue. Efforts continue to locate the victim’s next of kin.
Minutes after the victim was found, East Precinct officers responded to a report of a white SUV with apparent blood on its exterior parked at a self-storage facility at 1216 Gallatin Avenue. The SUV was subsequently linked to the deceased. The investigation to this point shows that the victim was killed on Cherokee Avenue, after which someone drove the SUV to the self-storage parking lot.
