Daniel Perales was working at the U-Totem Icehouse at 4802 Thousand Oaks Dr. He was behind the counter when unknown suspects entered the store and fired once at him, striking him in the chest. The suspects left with money taken from the register. When police arrived they found the victim lying on the floor behind the counter, deceased. The victim had recently been discharged from the US Army and was working two jobs to support his family.
One male possibly involved or a witness to the incident has been identified as "Billy Lopez" and was 17 at the time of the murder.
